Medical Informatics as scientific discipline: confluences from and to other disciplines

Medical informatics as a discipline is still young, although it can look back to about 50 years of research, education and practice. Today, as a cross-sectional discipline, it forms one of the bases for medicine and health care. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the journal Methods of Information in Medicine, the oldest and one of the leading international journals of this field, in this colloquium internationally renowned scientists will discuss the discipline’s development and, in particular, its confluences from and to other scientific disciplines.
