Mathematics for Health Care

The Challenge Workshop „Mathematics for Health Care“ intends to discuss the needs from life sciences and medicine for novel mathematical technologies. Both representatives from Biomedical research, Medicine and Mathematics will cover the needs, state of the art and sketch options for bridging the scientific gaps.

Presentations and discussions will cover the topics:

·         Bridging –omics to clinics: the challenges from personalized medicine

o        making sense from very high dimensional data structures

·         Bridging bench to bedside: the challenges from translational medicine

o        integrating time scales, model reduction and managing uncertainty

·         Bridging data to networks: the challenge of closedness

o        integrating targeted models and stress response

·         Bridging cells to tissues: the challenges of virtual tissue modeling

o        how to avoid the deluge of complexity

The workshop aims to access and address

·         the future challenges for mathematics

·         cooperation structures enabling efficient cooperation

·         funding structures adapted to the specific requirements of heterogeneous cultures of research
