A long way travelled away
Where do our guests come from? We tried to find the answer to this question between 1999 and 2010 with the help of Prof Peter Meusburger from the Geographical Institute. The study results were clear: Our guests do not shy away from long distances. The whole world travels to IWH Heidelberg and networks with local academics or strengthens existing connections.
And the trend continues: Our survey of our organisers for the year 2014, from whom we received 45 responses, shows a similar result. Academics from every continent found their way to IWH last year too. The majority of participants were quite naturally from Germany. The map, however, elucidates the international network of Heidelberg's academic scene - especially within Europe. The longest distance was covered by our visitors from Hawaii and New Zealand in the year 2014.
15 applications for the Hengstberger Award 2015
This year, 15 applications from a total of 21 applicants have been received.
The shortlisting of the applications shall be completed by the beginning of June. The applicants will then have the chance to review their work till 15th July 2015.
The final selection process is expected to be completed between the 20th and the 24th of July. After that, the applicants may present their project before the prize founder and the IWH Curatory Board.
